8 Easy Tips To Optimizing Your Time

RDD Oct 11 HeaderAfter starting with TAG only a couple months ago as the new Membership Director, I have already learned so much. Being a live-in-nanny  previously, I thought I knew all about time management and how to get things done in a timely matter. which was completely true, to an extent… In the process of transition I discovered that time management in a business is similar to that of running a household

jugglingIn a household (especially with children or pets) getting up at a consistent hour each day is not something new. Either a screaming child with a wet diaper and hunger pains is calling after you or your pet is scratching, meowing, or barking to go outside to do their morning business. Having this consistency of a morning routine is key to starting your business day off right. This helps get your engine going whether you are day bird or a night owl, setting a time to wake up everyday will help you make it a great start.

I found that being able to choose what times you will do and complete projects by helps keep you focused and on point. Set some short term daily goals which in the long run help you reach your long term goals. As I have been participating in our tele-classes and  learning through Ericka D. Jackson, when choosing what to do first on my task- list, always do what is closest to the revenue.

For example, with our organization we recieve revenue through tele-classes and live events. It is in my best interest to focus on whichever one of those is coming up first. (e.i. May 9th Tele-class) I would need to spend 2 hours a day on marketing, posting, emailing all about the tele-class, once I have taken the time to market that source of revenue I turn my attention to the next source which would be the  live event (i.e. May 17th) each source of revenue may look different and they way you go about completing it may be  difference than your other income sources.

A helpful tool that has revolutionized my day has been a planner pad that Ericka and I use daily. This planner is exceptional and allows you to literally write everything out  and work your way down the page and allows you to dump your daily to-do-lists and tasks into the time chart. It helps you stay organized and on task. It has so many open blocks for adding in random bits, such as; bills that need to be paid picking up the kids from soccer practice, arrange for an airport pick up or create a shopping list etc… you name it!

Jotting things down is essential to any business woman’s life. We are always thinking of a millions things we could do, should do, need to do, have done, should’ve done…. on…and on… one thing Ericka has taught me is “better out than in” if we want to continue to have fresh idea’s new revelations or simply hear Gods voice in our life, then we need to start de-cluttering our mind.

Another simple tool yet an easy one, that we all seem to dismiss all to easily, is team work. You cannot run a household with out a little help from time to time. The same goes for our businesses, assigning and delegating tasks to others is important. This will enable you to hone in on the area’s you know you are called and gifted to perform. Having the time to move in your gifts is essential, only you can do what you have been called and or gifted to do. A very dear friend of mine Pastor Francois Youakim always said to me; ” Amanda, time is money and I don’t have time to worry about money” henceforth every minute of your day is another minute closer to money, so everything you are doing is a key factor to how you will get there… even with some of the most menial tasks, you still are helping reach your revenue goals.

I Love the bible verse found in Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding, but in all your ways acknowledge Him and he will Direct your paths.” So often we find ourselves looking and leaning on what we see, and we disregard what is going on supernaturally and that Angels go before us and prepare the way for which we are about to proceed. As business women of God it is highly important for us to take the time on ourselves to be physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally whole and healthy.

If we do not know how to first take care of our own temples, how are we suppose to build another temple (business) thats functioning properly? As someone who is learning to do this everyday, I urge you to do the same. Declare continually that your body mind and spirit is aligned with christ and his ways and his plans… choose to move out of the way, so he can move in your life in an even greater way!

To recap my thoughts, here are 8 simple steps you can implement into your daily regimen:

  1. Morning Routine
  2. Daily Goals
  3. Complete closest to the revenue first
  4. Spend 2hrs per day, per revenue stream
  5.  Get a planner (be organized)
  6.  Jot things down (leave room for more creativity)
  7. Teamwork
  8. Time for yourself
